This week’s Player of the Week honor goes to D'Angelo Duarte, a sophomore standout from Alexandria City High School. As an outside linebacker and running back, Duarte delivered a performance to remember, carrying the ball 27 times for an incredible 269 yards and scoring a crucial touchdown.

Reflecting on his highlight of the week, D'Angelo points to his touchdown and the impact it had on the team. "Scoring a touchdown, helping my team win," he said. His first breakaway run of the game ignited the energy on the field and confirmed that his offensive line was outplaying their opponents.

D'Angelo’s contribution to the team goes beyond his stats. "I feel like I contributed by giving full effort every play and giving positive energy to my whole team," he explained. His relentless effort and positivity on the field were instrumental in the team's success.

When asked what motivates him, D'Angelo credits his family. "My family plays a big part in my success for this sport, they’re always by my side," he shared. His father, in particular, has been a key inspiration throughout his journey in football.

While D'Angelo didn’t face any significant challenges during game week, he maintains a calm and confident mindset on the field. "I don’t face any pressured moments, just another day playing ball," he said, illustrating his composed approach to the game.

Looking ahead, D'Angelo’s goals for the season are ambitious: break the rushing record for Alexandria City High, help his team reach the state championships, and ultimately earn a full ride scholarship to play football in college.

Off the field, D'Angelo enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games, and relaxing with good food. He has no pre-game superstitions, trusting in a higher power to guide him. "God is in control," he said.

Finally, D'Angelo expressed his gratitude to his coaches and teammates. "I appreciate everyone on the coaching staff, and I love my whole team. We are a brotherhood. I’m not able to do what I do without them."

Congratulations, D'Angelo, for an outstanding week and for being a true leader on and off the field. We look forward to seeing more of your success as the season continues!
